The Vibe at ViVE: Health Tech Leaders Discuss Plans for 2025

Harsh Singh, Genzeon General Manager, healthcare division, discussed the company’s efforts to solve administrative overhead challenges in healthcare to support clinicians. Its health tech seeks to improve privacy and compliance and reduce friction of prior authorizations. He also highlighted some of Genzeon’s goals for 2025.

BJ Schaknowski, symplr CEO, talks about how healthcare consolidation means that healthcare facilities need to standardize how they deliver best in practice care. In some cases, that means whittling down thousands of point solution applications that healthcare organizations use.

“Our belief is that by consolidating to a few platform providers you can reduce cost complexity, reduce information risk security profiles and give time back to caregivers to give care to patients.”

Schaknowski also talked about some of the acquisitions symplr has made in recent years to support interoperability.

Kim Dalla Torre, EY Global and Americas Health Leader, noted that in a recent consumer survey, 49% of respondents said they were unhappy with mental healthcare in its current state. They don’t understand how to access it, and there’s a lack of understanding about the differences between types of therapists and what is better for their needs, according to Torre. “Our system is very focused on acute care rather than earlier intervention.”

Torre added that primary care physicians should be utilized more for referrals. Most people have a good rapport with primary care physicians, she explained, so they would be comfortable with them making referrals. She also addressed telepsychiatry and its limitations.

Mike Wirth, ProviderTrust Chief Commercial Officer, shared what makes provider data such a headache for payers. He observed that so many payers have been working in this space for so long they have different platforms. Some of the things they are trying to get done rely on using legacy systems, and disparate data is lumped together. So much data is siloed, they were never designed to solve integration issues. The company’s goal is to make credentialing easier for practitioners.

Wayne Grodsky, SmarterDx Chief Commercial Officer, talked about the role of AI in the company’s approach to identifying differential diagnosis through EHR data analysis. The company now works with 35 health systems. The goal is to function as a quality assurance checker on the bills sent to insurers and patients. He noted that the company’s technology calls back data and makes the clinical argument for a case, making the reviewer’s job easier.
