Microsoft Faces Challenges In Next-Gen Gaming Hardware Development

Microsoft’s upcoming gaming hardware developments are sparking conversations within the gaming community, especially with the recent hardware revision of the Xbox Series X. According to a GamingBible article dated March 25, 2025, the new version of the Xbox Series X now sports a 6nm silicon processor. This upgrade, while significant, brings into question the pricing of next-gen consoles and whether there will be notable improvements over current hardware.

Richard Leadbetter from Digital Foundry, writing for Eurogamer, highlights that the 6nm silicon processor may lead to cost reductions and enhanced efficiency. However, he clarifies that this update is not as groundbreaking as previous iterations that have profoundly changed console gaming. “6nm silicon brings with it apparent cost-reductions and efficiency improvements – but this is no game-changing update in the way it was with the Xbox One S and the PS4 Slim,” Leadbetter noted.
