Even months after launch, AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs are non-existent in the Steam Hardware Survey, raising questions about the popularity of the GPUs.
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Gains 0.21% Share in Steam GPU Survey Despite Being Much Newer Than RX 9070 Series
The latest Steam Hardware Survey is out now, and it revealed some interesting stuff about the latest NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Do keep in mind that the Steam Hardware Survey doesn’t give an accurate picture of the GPU market and only takes into account the data users provide every month. So, if users don’t wish to participate in the Steam Hardware Survey, Steam won’t register their hardware and software configurations.
Nonetheless, it does show us that the RTX 50 series enjoys more popularity than the Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. Right now, NVIDIA has more GPUs in the RTX 50 lineup than AMD’s RDNA 4, including RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, RTX 5060 Ti, and RTX 5060. On the other hand, AMD has only released the Radeon RX 9070 series, consisting of the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. The RX 9060 XT is about to be launched for retail in a couple of days, but till then, we have to rely on the Steam data without the RX 9060 XT, which can only register RX 9070 series configurations at the moment.
Surprisingly, even three months after the launch of the RX 9070 series, there is no sign of those GPUs in the latest charts. It raises the question whether the Radeon RX 9070 is indeed as popular as the RTX 50 series GPUs. Well, there is no doubt that the RX 9070 series GPUs do sell decently, at least as per what we have been seeing in different stores, but we don’t have the exact figure.
It’s unlikely that the RX 9070 series doesn’t belong to the 9.32% “Other” category, since it is quite a huge number, but its share isn’t likely close to even 0.15%, while the RTX 50 series GPUs now enjoy close to 2% share all models combined. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is the latest addition to the May Steam Hardware Survey, having a share of 0.21%. The RTX 5060 will still take time to appear since it’s relatively newer. Astonishingly, the GeForce RTX 5090 is also missing from the charts, which could be due to many reasons (pricing, availability, etc.).
The RX 9070 series didn’t appear in the previous survey as well, and this is the third consecutive survey it has missed since launch. Once again, this is perhaps not the best way to guess the popularity of the RX 9070 GPUs, and their absence could be due to various reasons.
